Nuclear Chemistry
chapter 24: nuclear chemistry
Depending on certain conditions, such as unstable nuclei, said nuclei will emit radiation. These unstable nuclei can break apart spontaneously, which ultimately changes the identity of an atom. The three types of radiation that can be emitted by unstable nuclei are alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. It should be noted that some nuclei will undergo a series of changes and emit not only one type of particle, but a combination of particles.
